Shoulder Pain Physical Therapy FAQs
Get answers to common questions about our approach, insurance, and what to expect from treatment.
1. Do you accept insurance for shoulder pain physical therapy?
PIONE3R Physical Therapy & Wellness is an out-of-network provider. We operate as a cash-based care system which prioritizes you by taking out the middleman and allows us to decide what the best treatment options are without insurance limitations. We provide transparent pricing upfront and are happy to provide a superbill for you to self-submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. We do accept FSA and HSA cards.
2. What are the benefits of one-on-one cash-based care for shoulder injuries?
There's no limit to how many visits you may have. You receive full one-on-one care where you'll never be seen with another patient simultaneously. We can treat your whole person—your shoulder, neck, and back all within the same plan if needed. Research proves one-on-one care decreases the number of visits needed. Our frequency is typically only once per week instead of 2-3 times per week like traditional clinics.
3. How long does shoulder pain physical therapy take to work?
Every shoulder injury is different, but most patients begin feeling relief within the first few sessions. Our one-on-one approach and customized treatment plans typically require fewer total visits than traditional PT. During your initial evaluation, we'll give you a realistic timeline based on your specific condition, goals, and how your body responds to treatment.
4. What makes your therapists qualified to treat shoulder pain?
Our physical therapists are residency-trained, and several are board-certified orthopedic specialists—a credential held by only 9% of PTs nationwide. We've completed an additional year of rigorous training with 150+ hours of mentorship in orthopedics. This advanced training, combined with our expertise in strength training and fitness, allows us to bridge the gap between rehab and performance.
5. Can you help me get back to weightlifting and CrossFit after shoulder injury?
Absolutely. We're fitness-forward physical therapists who specialize in getting active individuals back to high-level activities like weightlifting, CrossFit, running, and sports. Unlike traditional PT clinics that might tell you to avoid certain movements forever, we guide you back into the activities you love with proper form, strength, and confidence.
6. What should I expect during my first shoulder pain evaluation?
Your first visit is a comprehensive 60-minute one-on-one evaluation. We'll discuss your complete history, current symptoms, and goals. Then we'll perform a thorough full-body assessment to identify the root cause of your shoulder pain—not just where it hurts, but why it's happening. You'll leave with a clear understanding of your diagnosis, a customized treatment plan, and exercises to start your recovery immediately.
